The Department of Science and Technology – Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC) headed by DOST Secretary Mario G. Montejo, together with the Quezon City Local Government Unit (LGU) headed by Mayor Herbert M. Bautista launched the Automatic Trash Rake Facility. The Ceremonial Turnover followed  their Partnership Statements.

Automatic Trash Rake (ATR) Facility is a joint project of the DOST-MIRDC and the QC LGU in cooperation with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

ATR Facility is a garbage-collection facility designed with an inclined conveyor mechanism installed at the center creek of Gen. Araneta Ave. cor. Mauban St., Quezon City. This automated system economically replaces the traditional manual collection on garbage trap screen. It can handle debris with great efficiency and reduces maintenance with minimal supervision.

Engr. Roberto O. Dizon, Asst. Secretary, DOST and OIC MIRDC, made the opening remarks,  while the Project Presentation and Demonstration was discussed by Engr. Gharry M. Bathan, MIRDC Project Leader. The closing remarks was done by Engr. Jonathan Q. Puerto, Deputy Executive Director for R&D MIRDC. (Photo by: Jimmy Camba)
