ANG National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL) ay nagsagawa ng isang Round Table Discussion na may temang “ Batang Ina, Ama, at iba pa” nitong nakaraang Oktubre 22, 2014.
Pinangunahan ni President NAST Philippines Academician William G. Padolina ang Welcome Remarks, kasunod ang Introduction ng mga speaker. Ang Objectives ng nasabing discussions ay pinangunahan naman ni National Scientist (NS) Mercedes B. Concepcion, RTD Focal Person and Chair, Social Science Division NAST Philippines.
Ang naturang RTD ay naka sentro sa findings ng 2013 National and Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS), at ang 2013 Young Adult Fertility and Sexuality Survey (YAFS) ay sa mga kabataang nabubuntis.
Ang National Democratic at Health Survey ay tinalakay ni Ms Paula Monina G.Collado, Interim Deputy National Statistician, of Civil Registration and Central Support Office, Philippine Statistics Authority and Dr. Socorro D. Abejo, Interim Assistant National Statistician for National Censuses Services, Philippine Statistics Authority.
Ipinaliwanag naman ng isa pang speaker mula sa Population Institute of the University of the Philippines na si Dr. Grace T. Cruz, Professor of Demography, ang tungkol sa ‘Batang Ama: Sexual Behabior at Fertility sa mga kabataang lalaki sa bansa”. Samantalang si Prof. Maria Paz N. Marquez naman ang nagpaliwanag patungkol sa mga batang Ina: Teenage Fertility sa Pilipinas.
Si Dr. Juan Antonio A. Perez III, Executive Director of the Commission on Population(POPCOM) naman ang nagpaliwanag sa implikasyon sa findings ng NDHS AT YAFS.
Si NS Gelia T. Castillo, myembro ng Social Science Division, ang nagtalakay ng diskusyon.
Ang MC at ang Moderator ay si Ms. Luningning E. Samarita-Domingo, Director IV, NAST Philippines.
