The Coalition of Clean Air Advocates (CCAA) launched the NATIONAL CHECK YOUR CAR DAY today, Nov. 17, 2014, with the theme ” Achieving Clean Air Quality through a real National Motor Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance Consciousness”.

The GUESTS were  DENR Sec. Ramon J.P. Paje, DOH Usec  Ted Herbosa, EMB Dir Atty. Jonas R. Leones, CCAA  Chairman Atty Leo O. Olarte, MD, CCAA Trustee Ms. Regina “Gina” Lopez, MISS GLOBAL PHILIPPINES Beauty Queens. The launching was held at the Air Quality Management Training Center (AQMTC) Building, Environmental Management Bureau (EMB), DENR, Central Compound, Visayas Avenue, Quezon City

The event is part of the Clean Air Month celebration, which is during November. This is the first time ever that such activity will happen in the Philippines where all LTO-registered motor vehicles (about seven million nationwide) can take advantage of.

Owners of motor vehicles can bring their cars to any of at least 500 participating private emission testing centers (PETC) nationwide to avail of the FREE emission testing that CCAA is offering.  This is to encourage awareness that owning a vehicle entails the responsibility of proper maintenance. Smoke belching can cause respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. It can also cause global warming which affects climate change that may lead to super typhoons like Yolanda and Ondoy. Sadly, eighty percent of air pollution in Metro Manila comes from unabated motor vehicle emissions.

This service is usually worth 450.00 pesos per motor vehicle. But on Nov 17, 2014, this motor vehicle emission testing is for FREE.
