The Department of Science and Technology Regional Offices and the Technology Application and Promotion Institute will have a Regional Invention Contests and Exhibits (RICE) for aspiring Filipino inventors on NCR with a theme: “Philippines: A Science Nation Innovating and Inventing for Global Competitiveness”. The contest will be held on September 28 – 30, 2015 at Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP), Quezon City.
The Regional Invention Contests and Exhibits is a nationwide activity conducted in different regions to recognize the indispensability of the Filipino inventors in the Philippine society and in the landscape of national economic development. The invention contest shall give encouragement to inventors to use their inventive capability by competing for cash rewards. The Regional Invention Contest serves as the elimination/ qualifying round for the National Invention Contest, pursuant to Section 4 of the Republic Act No. 7459 also known as “Inventors and Invention Incentives Act of the Philippines”.
There are six (6) categories in the Contest:
- Outstanding Invention (Tuklas Award)
- Outstanding Utility Model
- Outstanding Industrial Design
- Outstanding Creative Research (Likha Award)
- Outstanding Student Creative Research (Sibol Award) for High School
- Outstanding Student Creative Research (Sibol Award) for College students
The deadline for submission of entries is on September 15, 2015, 5:00 PM.
