The Department of Science and Technology Region VII (DOST VII) will be holding conferences, dialogues, exhibit, and a host of other interesting activities to promote science awareness in observance of this year’s Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW).

Celebrated on the theme, “Science for the People”, the RSTW activities will be held from June 20 through June 22 at Waterfront Hotel, Lahug, Cebu City. The public is invited to join the celebration.

The three-day regional event is part of the nationwide celebration of National Science and Technology Week (NSTW), the observance of which is mandated by Presidential Proclamation 2214, as amended by Republic Act 169 of 1993.

The celebration is aimed at “providing an opportunity to focus regional and national attention on the contribution of science and technology to national development and to give recognition and appreciation to outstanding accomplishments and personalities in science and technology”.

Highlighting the activities lined up for the occasion are the  Regional Invention Contests & Exhibits (RICE), technology and innovation conference,  health research and innovation conference, and exhibit of the DOST VII programs, projects and services.

Testimonials of successful Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) adoptors, and awarding of this year’s outstanding SETUP adoptors in Region 7 will also be held. The awardees are successful program beneficiaries who adopt and use technological innovations in their businesses and industries with the assistance of the DOST VII.
