ANGELES CITY- This city government led by Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan has launched on Tuesday, a three-day trade fair dubbed “Buy Angeles!” at the Angeles City Hall.
Organized by the city’s Business Development and Promotions Center (BDPC) in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Pampanga Provincial Office, the trade fair aims to promote locally produced quality products by creating a venue for city-based small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Mayor Pamintuan was joined by DTI Provincial Director Elenita Ordonio in formally opening the said product exposition through a ribbon cutting ceremony.
“This is a first step in helping out our SMEs in Angeles to boost the development of their respective business. It is also the city’s way to make Angeleños recognize and embrace local goods,” said Mayor Pamintuan.
At least 18 SMEs participated in the said trade fair showcasing a variety of products such as jewelries and leather crafts, soaps and wines made out of endogenous ingredients, water bonsaiplants, lemonade, taho, chicharon, pastries and delicacies, and other organic products.
DTI Provincial Director Ordonio disclosed that agency holds weekly coaching among SMEs about entrepreneurial mind-setting and values formation, packaging, marketing, and other factors that contributes to the improvement of their business.
Ordonio also mentioned that the agency is very much supportive to the city government as it recently turned over a Bottom-Up Budgetting (BuB) Funding amounting to P2 million for the establishment of the city’s own One Town, One Product (OTOP) Store Express to be located at the heritage district.
For his part, Pamintuan guarantees more events like this with the intensified operation of the BDPC. Pamintuan also bared his plans to finally establish a permanent business area for SMEs at the City Library.
