Fourteen year-old Marco Umgeher, Filipino-Austrian Racing Star in European ski race wants to be the first one to join international competitions and Olympic Games under Philippine Flag.

Marcos whose mother a native of Sebaste a town in Northern Antique is making a name of his own in the competition European Winter Sport by bagging victories in national and international stints in Austria turning him into a young athlete worth of emulation by the young people.

While Marco special skills and successful experiences are in skiing, his hobbies are mountain biking, motocross, judo, bow, and arrow shooting and table tennis enough to aspire to be the first one to join international skiing competition and Olympic Games under Philippine Flag.

Marco, who has been an enthusiastic skier since he was 5, practices several times a week with his trainers, doing coordination exercises in Winter Station, Giant Slalom and Super-G.

His instructors allow him to temporarily let go of classes during the race season.

He was first notice in a ski race in Rohn im Gebirge, a village in Wiener Neustadt-Land district in industrialized part of lower Austria. There, he took the first spot in slalom race of the Schilowsky kidscup Ost.

He earned numerous awards in competitions in this speed sport in Austria not only for himself and for his family but also for his country and eventually, professional from the OSV, or the Austrian Skiing Association, came to acknowledge his interest.

Marco’s biggest supporters are his parents, Hannes Umgeher and Gemma Francisco Imbang-Umgeher, and older sister, Jessica Imbang Umgeher, who were all present during the press conference held at City Garden Hotel Manila on July 4, 2016.

Marco, very ambitious as he is and goal oriented person has set a lot of goals for his ski career which fulfillment he works every day in some way.

He wants to achieve top rankings at the National Students Championships, he wants to contribute at the top of international races, such as the Silvretta Studentcup in Samnaun, Swizerland, to improve his training so that he will be up front at the European Championship, to compete with other ski athletes in the World Cup and belong to the top three of the overall ranking, to take part at the Olympic Games and win in the culmination of his career and to be role model for younger talent.

Passion for skiing and making the Philippines proud

As a young, passionate and highly motivated sportsman for skiing it is his goal to make the Philippines proud in this sport disciple.

His vision is to create a perfect symbiosis of professional ski racer, mountain and snow with his successful experiences in skiing. He wants to be the first one who will attend international skiing competitions and also the Olympic Games under the Filipino flag.

Therefore he looks for sponsors who will support this unique challenge in a long term business relationships.
