The 2018 Filipino Inventors Week held a weeklong celebration at the SKYDOME, SM City, North Edsa from November 15-21, 2018. The Opening Ceremonies of their 75th Anniversary celebration was graced by former Press Secretary, and Congressman Harry Roque, who was also the Guest Speaker. He proudly mentioned and enumerated projects and programs of Pres. Duterte’s administration. His projects played a vital role in the contribution to improve and develop the field of science and technology which is beneficial to our country. With the support of our government science and technology had geared and propelled to it’s highest par of excellence. They were able to compete and meet the demand globally in terms of innovation, inventions and promotion.
In this context, he encouraged the Department of Science and Technology to have its continuous endeavors to give strength and aspirations to stakeholders, individuals particularly the new generation to become partners in our countries economic growth and success.
One of the highlights of the ceremonies were the presence of the Filipino Inventors who were each given the opportunity to share their insights, challenges and success stories .
Inventors who attended, with their inventions, were:
Inventor Flordeliza Ursua, Bamboo Flute; Guillermo Chua, Trash Cart; Lights Rolling dust pan Benjamin Santos, Oil Re-fining Technology; Manuel Dono, Griller and Inventor George de Guzman, Power Up Fuel Combuster.
During the Intermission Number selected High School students from public schools showcased their talents in singing to entertain the guest and visitors.
At this juncture, Sec. Fortunato de la Pena as Guest of honor was presented a Certificate of Appreciation for his untiring support, leadership and excellent performance in his capacity as Secretary in the Department of Science and Technology.
He was elated to be recognized for his long years of endeavor in the department, and expressed his assurance that DOST would remain strong partners of the government to sustain its economic growth of our country. (Adela Garapan Ida)
