The Department of Agriculture in Central Visayas (DA7) turned over a brand new refrigerated wingvan to the Southern Negros Agri-Fishery Multipurpose Cooperative (SONAMCO) in Siaton, Negros Oriental.

The P2 million van is funded under the Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita program of DA.

The 500-member coop has more than 65 million pesos asset.  The coop also is now in the process of complying with the documentary requirements to avail of DAs cold storage facilities.

The coop has also a 46-hectare fishpond which produces 100 tons of shrimps per month and an average of 11 tons of bangus per month which are sold mostly to Metro Manila markets.

The turnover ceremony on September 22,2021 was led by DA7 Regional Executive Director Atty. Salvador Diputado, and Negros Oriental DA7 APCO Sarah Perocho. Coop officials and members were present in the event to receive their brand new wingvan.(DA-RFO VII, RAFIS)
