FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija — The troops of the 91st Infantry (SINAGTALA) Battalion, Philippine Army together with the personnel from 1st Aurora Police Mobile Force Company, intercepted a closed van loaded with Sopa Wood, illegal lumber, during the conduct of AFP-PNP COMELEC checkpoint at the vicinity of Sitio Canili, Barangay San Juan, Maria Aurora, Aurora around 2 a.m on January 24, 2022.
The authorities have flagged down an ISUZU Elf (closed van) bearing plate number XTC 376 and arrested a certain Alvin M. Romero.
A team led by Corporal Christian C. Ramos of Charlie Company 91IB together with 1st APMFC led PLt Jonald M. Argarin, PENRO Aurora led by Cesario I. Poblete, and Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO) led by Wilson Go confiscated the SOPA lumber and the truck and was brought to CENRO Maria Aurora in coordination with Maria Aurora Municipal Police Station.
LTC Reandrew P. Rubio, Commanding of 91IB said, “We will continue to intensify our law enforcement support operations targeting illegal contraband and those individuals or groups that are engaged in any illegal activities.”
Meanwhile, the Commander of the 7th Infantry (KAUGNAY) Division, Philippine Army MGen Andrew D. Costelo PA said that they will intensify their law enforcement support operations with the PNP during the conduct of AFP-PNP COMELEC Checkpoints to thwart the illegal activities in its Area of Responsibility.
“In our peace and security efforts in support to the peaceful conduct of the local and national elections, we do not only focus on monitoring local threats brought by the Communist Terrorist Group, but also we support and help the PNP enforce the law, prevent crimes, and maintain the peace and security in the area,” said MGen Costelo.
