The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 02, led by Dr. Virginia G. Bilgera, has introduced STARBOOKS to the Department of Health Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DOH TRC) in San Antonio, City of Ilagan, Isabela. This digital library aims to support patient rehabilitation by providing access to valuable science and technology resources.
STARBOOKS offers educational materials on livelihood skills, entrepreneurship, and job readiness. By integrating this platform into the rehabilitation center, DOST hopes to help patients reintegrate into society while keeping them mentally engaged during their recovery.
Fifteen staff members from DOH TRC II attended a session led by Mr. Carl Joshua Reyes, where they learned about the objectives, mandates, and features of STARBOOKS. The discussion sparked enthusiasm among the attendees, who were eager to explore the platform’s potential.
According to Atty. Abigail M. Ancheta, Attorney III at DOH TRC II, STARBOOKS will enhance the center’s library by providing engaging content that enriches patients’ educational experiences. She described it as a “game-changer” that complements existing rehabilitation programs.
This initiative aligns with DOST’s mission to promote science, technology, and innovation (STI). By bringing digital learning tools to healthcare and rehabilitation centers, STARBOOKS helps both medical staff and patients access crucial information tailored to their needs.
With STARBOOKS now available at DOH TRC, the center is set to enhance patient rehabilitation through technology, proving that education can be a powerful tool for healing and growth.
