The Chinese Community in Binondo, Manila particularly in China Town and Ongpin had their Annual Grand Celebration of this occasion. Thousands from all walks of life joined to celebrate with them. A showcase of Dragon Parade along the stretch of Binondo with colorful motif graced by different individuals from the young generations both Chinese and Filipino Community.
Some Business Establishments were open so that costumers can avail of their products such as food delicacies, fruits, vegetables and other food items in a reasonable price.
In the afternoon was a Parade of Floats, initiated by the Local Govenment Unit (LGU) City of Manila, headed by City Mayor, Hon, Joseph Estrada, other Elected Officials, Head of Office and employees.
According to the Police on Duty in the vicinity of the area, the peace situation during the celebration of Chinese New Year was generally peaceful. There were no untoward incidents and casualties reported.
