NAPOLCOM okays recruitment of 545 professionals into the PNP

The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) recently authorized the recruitment of professionals with highly technical qualifications for lateral entry into the police service. NAPOLCOM Vice-Chairman and Executive Officer Atty. Rogelio T. Casurao said that the Commission en banc approved Resolution No. 2017-229 dated May 31, 2017 granting the Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) the authority to fill 545 vacancies for the ranks of Police Senior Inspector and Police Inspector under the PNP CY 2017 Lateral Entry Program. “The PNP Lateral Entry Program is aimed at strengthening the corps of Technical Service Officers in the police service,” Casurao said. Out of the 545 vacancies in the various technical services of the PNP, 182 are for Police Senior Inspector (equivalent to Captain in the military) and 363 are for Police Inspector (equivalent to Lieutenant). The quota distribution for Police Senior Inspector is broken down, as follows: 100 Lawyers, 48 Medical Doctors and 34 Priests, Imams or Pastors. Escape from Marawi Jail surrendered to BJMP Chief

June 19, 2017-An escape from Marawi City Jail surrendered to BJMP Chief Jail Director Serafin P Barretto Jr. Inmate Mohaderin Acampong, charged with murder, was among the 107 inmates freed during the attack of armed men at Marawi City Jail and Malabang District Jail. “Acampong who stayed in Novaliches, Quezon City for weeks is now in our custody. We are happy that he chose to surrender“, said Barretto “We are here to ensure his safety back into the fold of the law. We know that like him, there are other escapees who are still waiting for the right chance but I can assure them, they will be more safe with us”, he added. Barretto credited the effective implementation of inmate’s welfare and development at Marawi City Jail. It encourages inmate Acampong to surrender especially the religious activities being conducted in jail. “I understand that it will be a tough decision on their part to leave their family again but I assure them of a significant deduction on their possible sentence thru the immediate granting of Good Conduct Time Allowance or with other incentives provided by law” Barretto emphasized. DILG Undersecretary Austere A. Panadero imparts basic local government policies and best practices to government heads from the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. NAPOLCOM approves recruitment of 14,484 new cops

The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) approved the recruitment of 14,484 Police Officer 1 (PO1) through Resolution No. 2017-321 dated June 2, 2017 to increase police personnel strength, improve police-to-population ratio and enhance police visibility. NAPOLCOM Vice-Chairman and Executive Officer Atty. Rogelio T. Casurao said that for CY 2017, the Philippine National Police (PNP) will recruit 10,000 civilians for the regular recruitment quota and 4,484 new police officers for the attrition recruitment quota. “The regular recruitment quota will be distributed to all Police Regional Offices (PROs) and to selected National Support Units (NSUs) to strengthen their respective Public Safety Forces (PSFs) and support their personnel build-up program,” Casurao said. The attrition recruitment quota is intended to replenish personnel losses due to retirement, separation or death of PNP members, and consequently improve the prevailing peace and order condition in the operational area covered by the respective PROs and NSUs.
