The National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippine of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-NAST) will present Outstanding Research and Development Award (ORDA) to outstanding research of an individual or group during the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) on July 11, 2018 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City.

The DOST-NAST conducted the paper presentation for 2018 DOST NSTW Outstanding Research and Development Award for Basic and Applied Research on April 18, 2018 at Hotel Jen, Pasay City.

The finalists for the Outstanding Research and Development Award for Basic Research, also known as the Eduardo A. Quisumbing Medal, are Dr. Carla B. Dimalanta, UP Diliman, and Dr. Rosalinda D. Torres, DOST- ITDI. Dr. Dimalanta will present a paper on ”The Second Phase of the Philippines- Taiwan Integrated Geodynamics Project” while Dr. Torres will discuss her paper on “Extraction, Characterization and Bio-Assay for Larvicidal of Some Philippine Medicinal Plants”.

The nominees, who presented their entries for Outstanding Research and Development Award for Applied Research, or the Julian A. Banzon Medal, were Ms. Miriam F. Bongo, University of San Carlos and Dr. Mary Donabelle L. Balela, UP Diliman. Ms. Bongo will present a paper on “A Hybrid Fuzzy Multi- Criteria Decision-Making Approach for Mitigating Airport Congestion: A case study in Ninoy Aquino International Airport’. Dr. Balela discussed entry entitled “Development of Multifunctional Kapok Nanocomposite for Environmental Purification”.

Winner of each category will receive a cash prize of P200,000.00 from DOST, a plaque, and a medal during the awarding ceremony on July 11, 2018 at World Trade Center.
