The Department of Agriculture 12 headed by Regional Executive Director Arlan Mangelen supports the celebration of the International Youth Day with this year’s theme, “Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health”, highlights the success of such a global effort will not be achieved without the meaningful participation of young people.
Today, DA staff from the Office of the Regional Executive Director (ORED), Amas Research and Experiment Station, Balindog Research and Experiment Station, Tupi Research and Experiment Station, and other employees assisted the distribution of agricultural goods to the youth of Sitio Salkan, Brgy. Paraiso in Koronadal City.
Moreover, RED Mangelen initiated this program to let the youth appreciate the importance of agriculture especially now that we are facing a pandemic.
Each of them received a bag of rice donated by rice processing centers of the region, vegetable seeds, fruit-bearing tree seedlings, fruits, vegetables and other crops harvested from the experiment stations. The youths extended their gratitude to DA12 especially to RED Mangelen for the items they received.
Further, the organizers facilitated the distribution and basic health protocols were observed.(DA-RFO XII, RAFIS)
