The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Philippine-Chinese Charitable Association, Inc. (PCCAI) signed anew a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the extension of comprehensive medical assistance to PDEA agents.
The signatories were PDEA Director General Aaron N Aquino, and PCCAI represented by the Chairman of the Board Dr. Benito Goyokpin,and Dr. James G. Dy, President and CEO, Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center, who inked the agreement in a ceremony held at 11:00 AM on December 19, 2017 at the Office of the President, 10th Floor Medical Arts Building, Blumentritt Street, Sta. Cruz, Manila.
Under the MOA, all PDEA agents can avail of medical treatment from PCCAI if injured in the line of duty.
The MOA between PDEA and PCCAI started in December 13, 2013 but for selected regions only.
The MOA signed today has been expanded, covering all 1,251 PDEA agents nationwide.
Aquino said the MOA sealed the partnership between PDEA and PCCAI, and renewed the MOA covering the medical aid and treatment of PDEA personnel nationwide who sustained injuries during actual performance of duties, including surgery and major operations as well as the use of its medical equipment and facilities from admission to release.
The PDEA Chief extended the agency’s deep appreciation to the medical support provided by PCCAI to boost the morale of PDEA agents who, during actual anti-drug operations commit their lives to serve the country and people. Aquino cited that the MOA is a great contribution of PCCAI in the campaign against illegal drugs.
