DOST Launching of BANTOG “The Science for the People Media Awards” at Sequioa Hotel, Quezon City on February 26, 2018. BANTOG is the award given in recognition of the important role of media practitioners (print, radio, TV and online) in government and private practice, who made significant contributions to the promotion of science and technology information. Gracing the Launching were DOST Secretary Fortunato T. Dela Pena, DOST-STII Director Richard P. Burgos, Dost Asst.Secretary Atty. Emmanuel S. Galvez, Engr. Edgar Garcia and Dr. Aristotle P. Carandang, Master of Ceremony.
The BANTOG is open to all National and Regional Media. Nominees should be Filipinos/ Filipino-owned media companies who wich haved broadcasted and publised S&T information in January 2017- March 2018. The categories: Institutional Award, Professional Award (Media Practitioners), Regional Media Practitioner Award and Outstanding Information Officers Award.
The Institutional Category winners will only recieve tropies. Professional Category (TV, Radio, Print and Online) will recieve 100k for the 1st prize each, 50k for the 2nd prize and 25k for the 3rd prize. For Regional Media Practitioner category winner will recieve 50k each and for the DOST Outstanding Information Officer winners will recieve 30k for the 1st prize, 20k for the 2nd Prize and 10k for the 3rd prize.
