Fort Ramon Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija – As part of their annual tradition, the Knights of Columbus (K of C) Nueva Ecija Chapter, in cooperation with the 7th Infantry “Kaugnay” Division (7ID), trekked Taclang Damulag on March 7-8, 2020.

This year, more than 100 members of K of C and Boys Scout of the Philippines, together with 7ID and Special Forces Regiment personnel, climbed the peak of Taclang Damulag in the afternoon of March 7. The following day, a mass was held.

Taclang Damulag is a hill situated within the Fort Magsaysay Military Reservation (FMRR) that rises to an elevation of 370 ft. With the 7ID having administrative authority over the FMRR, the hill has become a training area for the different military tenant units within the Camp.

The K of C is a global Catholic fraternal service organization composed of (and limited to) practicing Catholic men who accepted orthodox Catholic doctrine. The K of C – Nueva Ecija Chapter has made it an annual tradition to trek Taclang Damulag as part of their penitence during the start of the Lenten Season, for at the top of the hill is a big cross where a mass is held as part of the culmination of the event.

Major General Lenard T. Agustin, the Commander of 7ID, gave his full support to the event, saying that despite the strict policies within the camp premises, the Camp has always been open to receive visitors and host activities as it is promoting eco-tourism.

“Fort Magsaysay has many interesting and scenic spots and is truly worth a visit. Aside from deepening our faith, touring the FMMR could enrich our knowledge of military history and help us relax at the same time,” added Major General Agustin.(Cris Palarca)
