Roxanne Allison Baeyens, our reigning Miss Earth Philippines

Lovely Roxanne Allison Baeyens, our reigning Miss Earth Philippines and environmentalist, has shown her thumbs-up attitude for Department of Agriculture’s efforts to secure sufficient food for Filipino families in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic.

During her speech, Baeyens stressed the vital role of the agriculture sector in the fight against COVID-19. As an advocate of urban agriculture, she emphasized that “Agriculture is amongst the most affected during the pandemic and losing hope of farmer is the worst that could happen.” According to her, “the DA’s Plant Plant Plant Program or Ahon Lahat Pagkaing Sapat (ALPAS) laban sa COVID 19 is a good means of inspiring and giving hope to many in their down moments by educating and assisting them with a startup in planting.”

The Baguio Pride also encouraged the youth specifically her Miss Earth 2020 elemental queens to use their platforms in creating an impact by “joining the crusade of giving hope to farmers and people affected during the pandemic.”

Miss Earth 2020 was immersed into farming activities such as Arabica Coffee planting and milking demonstration today at the Baguio Animal Breeding and Research Center (BABRC) as part of DA-CAR’s Promoting Highland Agriculture activity. She also participated in the turn-over of chicken, native pigs, and milk to frontliners, DSWD, CSWDO, ASF affected farmers, LGUs, and farmer’s organizations in Baguio City.
