The Social Security System (SSS) has extended the payment deadline for the February 2021 contributions of all regular employers in the National Capital Region (NCR), Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal Provinces from March 31, 2021 to April 30, 2021.
Based on Circular No. 2021-002 signed by SSS President and CEO Aurora C. Ignacio, the extension is in support of members and employers affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), which was declared in the said areas last March 29, 2021.
“We understand that quarantine restrictions in the past weeks have caused difficulties for our regular employers in the NCR Plus to pay the contributions of their employees on time. Thus, we have extended the payment period of their February 2021 contributions until April 30 without imposing penalties,” Ignacio said.
Under Republic Act No. 11199 (Social Security Law of 2018), if an employer fails to pay contributions to the SSS as prescribed, it will incur a penalty of 2% per month from the date the contribution falls due until paid.
Employers based in the said areas with approved installment proposals are also given until April 30, 2021 to deposit their post-dated checks that fall due in March 2021.
Payment deadlines of regular employers for the applicable months after February 2021 will follow its regular schedule based on SSS Circular No. 2019-012 (https://bit.ly/3iRssRf).
Meanwhile, household employers, and self-employed, voluntary, non-working spouses, and land-based Overseas Filipino Worker members will continue to follow their regular payment schedules under SSS Circular No. 2019-012.
The SSS encourages employers and members to use online and alternative payment channels for their contributions. The list of SSS payment channels is posted on its Facebook page at https://bit.ly/3lpPYaR.
