TUGUEGARAO CITY, CAGAYAN — The Green Luzon Project, in collaboration with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), represented by Ms. Lyn Elsie C. Patli and Mr. Mark John P. Alonzo, and the Barangay Local Government Units (BLGUs), conducted a review and proofreading of the contingency plans of Barangay Sampaguita and Barangay General Balao on September 17–18, 2026, at Marcelos Diner in Nangalisan, Solana, Cagayan.
The activity aimed to ensure that the barangay contingency plans are clear, accurate, practical, and responsive to the actual needs and circumstances of the communities. The review focused on refining the content, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring that proposed actions, roles, and responsibilities are properly reflected in the plans.
The contingency plans serve as guides for barangay officials, responders, volunteers, and community members on what actions to take, who is responsible, and how resources and services will be coordinated during emergencies and disasters. Strengthening these plans helps improve preparedness, coordination, and timely response.
The activity contributed to improving the clarity and accuracy of the barangays’ contingency plans; strengthening the roles and responsibilities of local responders and stakeholders; ensuring that preparedness measures are responsive to community realities; enhancing coordination among the BLGUs, MDRRMO, and other partners; and promoting a stronger culture of disaster preparedness and community resilience.
The review and proofreading activity strengthened the preparedness of Barangay Sampaguita and Barangay General Balao by helping ensure that their contingency plans are practical and responsive to potential emergencies.
Through continued collaboration among local government units, disaster management offices, and community partners, the Green Luzon Project supports communities in building resilience and protecting lives and livelihoods.
