Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija – To strengthen its partnership with the LGU’s and its people’s organization, the 48th Infantry (Guardians) Battalion participated once again in the Senior Citizens’ and Barangay Officials’ Consultative Conference held at Brgy Gumaoc West Covered Court, San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan on February 29, 2020.

The consultative conference discussed the possible support, assistance and programs intended for the members of the senior citizens of Gumaoc that will be provided by the municipal LGU and the province of Bulacan.

More or less 3,000 attended the event while 15 senior citizens received their senior citizens certificate and took an oath as officers of United Senior Citizen of Barangay Gumaoc West.

To intensify the “Whole-of-Nation” Approach, security sectors from the Philippine National Police (PNP) led by Bulacan Provincial Director Police Colonel Lawrence B Cajipe, City of San Jose del Monte Chief of Police Lieutenant Colonel Gil A. Domingo and the Army’s 48th IB led by Lieutenant Colonel Felix Emeterio M. Valdez collaborated with the Barangay Officials of Gumaoc headed by Hon Antonio B Gaddi.

Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando led the oathtaking in order to strengthen the bond and formalize the membership of the senior citizens in Gumaoc in accordance with their existing laws and regulations.

Meanwhile, Major General Lenard T. Agustin AFP, Commander, 7ID recognized the importance of our senior citizens in our society.

“We also need to consider and involve in our endeavors our Senior Citizens. Their contribution from the past made a significant change in our society today as we are gaining success in peace and development. Without them, we cannot establish a firm foundation needed for a stronger nation,” said Maj. Gen. Agustin.

In relation to this, LIEUTENANT COLONEL VALDEZ expressed the continued support of the army to the different sectors of our society.

“We have been very active in supporting different sectors of society in their aim for peace and development. Through this, we are also able to strengthen the senior citizens in their aim for a progressive society that would also favor them,” said Lt. Col. Valdez.
