Led by DOST-NCR Director Dr. Teresita C. Fortuna, Ph. D., DOST with the media visited assisted four (4) food establishments and two (2) handicraft factories during the Department of Science and Technology – National Capital Region (DOST-NCR) Roadshow Project Visit to Assisted micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) aside from the three metal industries on December 11, 2014.
The establishments visited were:
· MAPAGMAHAL FOODS is located at CRM Avenue, St Joseph Subdivision, Las Piñas City. It produces juice concentrates (Calamansi, Dalandan) Ready to drink (Calamansi, Dalandan) and condiments ( squeezed Calamansi Extract)
DOST intervention was the acquisition of S&T related equipment such as steam jacketed kettle, semi-automatic filling machine, capping machine, product transfer pump, hydraulic press, squeezing machine, conveyor belt, double fruit batch washer, O2 nozzle automatic filling machine, root crop vegetable washer with bristles and dry coding machine.
Through this intervention MAPAGMAHAL among others has increased volume by 100%, increased gross sales by 110% and increased employment by 17.
MAPAGMAHAL exports 60% of its production volume to USA, London and Canada in its own brand or through private labels. Local Markets are SM, Robinson, Supermarkets, Petron Treats, Bibingkinitan, Gerry’s Grill, The Old Spaghetti House, Pancake House, Teriyaki Boy, Pinakamasarap, and URC.
· VIVSON FOODS ENTERPRISE is located at Kalayaan Village, Brgy. 201, Pasay City. It produces muscuvado and ube flavoured Piaya.
DOST among others provides dough mixer, dough roller, fast sealer, oven, and stainless steel table with drawer.
Through the intervention VIVSON among others increased production output by 90% penetrated new markets (Purity, Quincy, and Llanes Markets) and hired 5 additional employees.
VIVSON markets have four (4) outlets in Divisoria, Philippine Rabbit Terminal; markets in Quiapo, Baclaran, and Cavite; Kalayaan Elementary School; wholesale and distributors to Antipolo and Laguna; Mang Ompong Buko Pie Store in Baguio; Josie Mini Mart in Singalong Paco; and Cany’s Purity, Quincy and Llanes Supermarkets.
· MFP HOME OF QUALITY FOOD CORPORATION located at Geveses Street, Martinville, Manuryo Dos, Las Piñas City is engaged in the production of branded Pulvoron (House of Pulvoron) is classic and is with rice crispies, cookies and cream, cashew, pili, purple yam, and choco-coated flavors unbranded pulvoron customized to specific client requirements.
DOST provided MFP HOME with kettle with scraper type mixer, automatic ban sealer, ribbon mixer, shriek packaging machine, sifter, roller-mill (nuts chopper), ribbon mixer and compacting / moulder machine.
Through these intervention MFP HOME among others increased production volume by 355%, increased product shelf life to 12 months, increased local market and penetrated effort market and increased employment from 24 to 63.

Market!, Trinoma, SM Megamall, Golrietta, Cash&Carry, Makati Supermart Alabang-ATC); Present in Major Supermarkets (SM Snack Exchange/Departmentstore, SM Supermarket, SM Hypermarket, SM Savemore, Robinsons Supermarket, Rustans Supermarket, Shopwise, Kultura, Landmark, Unimart, Pioneer Center, Metro Gaisano Supermarket, Foodah Supermarket, Guordo’s, South Supermarket, Gaisano Capital, Royal Dutyfree, Puregold Dutyfree, US, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Netherlands, Malaysia, Singapore, UAE, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, China (Macau) and Australia.
· YELLY’S BAKESHOP located at Pluto Street Breaktown Subdivision, Moonwalk Village, Parañaque City bakes bread and pastries (pan de coco, Spanish bread, cheese bread, putok, kalshim, pudding, ensaymada, etc); Pan de sal (squash, malunggay); Crinkles; hopia; eggpie, loaf (squash, ube, macapuno, cheese, coco, banana); Cakes; Quezo de Bola and calamansi juice ready-to-drink (with malunggay w/ ashitaba).
DOST provided YELLY’S BAKESHOP emulsifier / mixer, bain marie cake chiller, rotary oven, 4-door chiller, sanitary storage rack, hopia griller, dough kneader and horizontal band sealer.
YELLY’S through the DOST intervention among others increased production capacity by 100%, increased employment by 33% and with acquisition of mixer / emulsifier eliminated outsourcing of intermediate products (peanut butter puree, filling, toppings).
