Learning about the value of social security coverage came early for around 80 students of Information Technology and Computer Science from the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) when they visited the Social Security System (SSS) main office in Diliman, Quezon City on September 7 for a study tour as part of their curriculum. Aside from discussions on SSS membership and programs, the students also learned from lectures on the SSS IT System as part of the study tour.

Randy Pabilona from the Commission on Higher Education.

USeP is a regional state university with its main campus located in Obrero, Davao City. The university also oversees its Mintal campus in Davao City, the two units of its Tagum-Mabini campus in Tagum City and Compostela Valley, and its Bislig Campus in Surigao del Sur.

The SSS accepts requests for study tours from schools and universities. Topics for the SSS lectures are based on the school’s request and on the needs of the students. SSS also discusses to the students, as potential paying members, the importance of active SSS membership and necessity of saving for their future and their beneficiaries.(SSS Media Affairs Deptartment)
