MANILA — Caritas Philippines and Caritas Española conducted an accompaniment and assessment visit to partner Diocesan Social Action Centers (DSACs) under the Convenio Green Luzon Project from August 24 to September 3, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen sustainability strategies, deepen collaboration with communities, and support the implementation of community-based initiatives for economic empowerment.
The accompaniment covered the Dioceses of Ilagan and Tuguegarao, as well as the Apostolic Vicariate of Tabuk. The visit included monitoring community-based livelihood and agricultural initiatives supported through the project, allowing the team to see how these interventions contribute to the economic well-being and resilience of partner communities.
A key highlight of the visit was the meeting with civil society organizations (CSOs) implementing the project. The team met with community members and organization leaders to hear about their experiences, recognize their accomplishments, and identify challenges in sustaining their respective livelihood enterprises.
The discussions also highlighted opportunities to strengthen the organizations’ capacities, improve their livelihood and agricultural activities, and enhance coordination among communities.
The Green Luzon Project is funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and Caritas Española and implemented by Caritas Philippines in partnership with the DSACs.
Through this partnership, the project supports community-led initiatives that promote sustainable livelihoods, agricultural development, and environmental stewardship. These efforts form part of the broader goal of the Green Luzon Project to empower communities and promote development that is inclusive, sustainable, and rooted in local participation.
